My New Blog

I had launched my new blog already : www.simplydunn.net. This is my first blog that I host myself. I never host my own site before neither experienced with Wordpress. But I want to learn. The blog is not fully completed yet. But I decided to start posting and at the same time building it. And I will do the posts of the steps that I’ve made so you can keep up with the progress of the blog, and hopefully you can get the benefit of it.

I will write about anything that rumbling in my mind. But most of it would be about blogging, internet, tools, Wordpress and more other topics. Hope to see you in my new blog, and please leave a comment or two while you were there. If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to contact me. It will be much appreciated.

Agloco is Dead

I received email from Agloco stating that due to their revenue is not sufficient for the distribution neither enough to support operating costs, therefor they are unable to continue the operations. They are even offering any member who would like to continue the operation of AGLOCO.

I'm a member of AGLOCO. But from the first place, I didn't put that much efforts to recruit members. So this doesn't effect much on me. Does anyone actually been paid by Agloco, especially those who have lots of members as their downlines? I only have 7 members as my downline. So, even this is not happening, I didn't expect to be paid anytime soon.

Mississipi Disaster

As many as 20 people are feared dead after an eight-lane bridge collapsed into the Mississipi river at rush hour. Authorities in Minneapolis, Minnesota, said that nine bodies had been already discovered and several people are still missing. The search halted because darkness posed a risk to divers, will restart at daybreak. Rescue workers said they did not expect to find any more survivors. Around 50 cars and lorries were thrown into the river, injuring dozens, after the road collapsed on Wednesday evening. Many were crushed by falling shards of concrete.

The bridge was undergoing minor repairs at the time of tragedy, officials said. Early reports suggested construction workers were using a jackhammer before collapse. It was last inspected in 2006 and no significant structural problems were found, according to Tim Pawlenty, the governor of Minnesota.
The Homeland Security department said the tragedy did not appear to be related to terrorism.

A school bus carrying about 60 children had a narrow escape, remaining intact despite the destruction around it. All those on board were saved, although 10 had to be taken to hospital.

Rescue workers scrambled into the river gorge to help people off the huge chunks of concrete roadway as fire and smoke rose from the wreckage.

Ramon Houge was driving on the bridge when heard a rumbling noise, saw the ground collapse in front of him and watched cars go down into the water.
"It didn't seem like it was real," he told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Sarah Fahnhorst, who lives in an apartment a block away from the bridge, heard a huge thud and then "the entire building shook. It shook the ground," she told the paper.

Built in 1967, the steel-arched bridge stretched 1,906 feet across the river outside Minneapolis. It was part of the Interstate 35, one of many national highways that criss-cross the United State. The north-south route stretches from the Canadian border to the border with Mexico, passing through Minneapolis, Kansas City, Oklahoma City and Dallas.

Agloco View Bar

Today i received email from Agloco telling me that Agloco Viewbar has been released and ready to download. Finally, after the long awaited moment, viewbar is ready to use. It was such a long wait and without any news, I almost believe that Agloco was a scam as was reviewed by many blogs. So I went to the Agloco website and login to my account. There was now a "Download the Viewbar" button. So I clicked and download the viewbar.

The display of the viewbar is exactly the same with the example in the website. The size is the same with windows task bar. Viewbar color can be altered to your liking. Choices are blue, purple, green and red. There are 2 choices on the language: English or Mandarin. The position of the bar can also be chosed to be below or at the top. Pick your liking and whatever you are comfortable with. The viewbar also contains a one click inactive button which turns it off and removes it from your screen at any time.

There is no ads shown yet. In the ads bar, it written that ads would be appear shortly. There is search box with many choices: Google, Yahoo, Windows Live, Ebay, Wikipedia, Amazon, etc.

It is also explained that you will accrue hours in your Agloco Member account, with maximum of five direct hours a month. Hours are earned during active surfing on the internet. Your referral's surfing will accumulate hours for you at a 25% rate, meaning if one of your referral's surfs for the maximum five hours you will get 1.25 (0.25 x 5) hours credited to your total referral hours. But you can only get credit referral hours up to the amount you directly surf. Meaning if you surf 3 hours but a referral surfs 4 hours, you will only get credit for the first 3 of your referral's 4 hours.

Yahoo Photos Shuts Down

Yahoo is shutting down Yahoo Photos. Its users will be directed to move their pictures to Flickr. Flickr, acquired by Yahoo in March 2005, has steadily gained traction. Visitors rose 22% between April 2006 and April 2007, according to measurement service Hitwise. At the same time, Yahoo Photos lost 60% of its audience.

Yahoo Photos is a static photo-sharing site, with links to offers to buy prints and accessories. Flickr is a social community, like MySpace and YouTube, where members can search through photos and comment on them.

One of the reason is that the photos in Yahoo couldn't be tracked by search engine. And in Flickr or other sites, users have the tools to add information to images to make them searchable.

Yahoo Photos will be shut down by the fall. Users will be directed over a three-month period to transfer their images to Flickr or other photo sites such as Shutterfly, Kodak Gallery, Snapfish or Photobucket. Yahoo says it will make the transition easy, with a one-click transfer process. Yahoo has said that it kept both services going after the acquisition because they appealed to different audiences. But Thursday, it said in a statement that Yahoo Photos was closing because of the changing nature of the Internet.
