Tips to Keep Your PC Running Smoothly
A slow computer can be quite troublesome and may really affect your work. Given here are some simple tips that you can use to fix errors and speed up your PC.
Use a Registry Scanner Tool
A large bloated registry, filled with loads on unwanted, obsolete, and incorrect information, easily gets unstable and fragmented and as a result, considerably deteriorates the performance of your PC. Therefore, the first tip to keep your PC running smoothly is to maintain a compact, error-free, healthy Windows Vista registry. In order to do this, you must regularly scan and remove unwanted information from the registry.
You can easily perform this task using a reliable registry scanner tool. You can download a registry tool that meets your requirements from the Internet. Registry tools have a user-friendly GUI-interface and you can easily use their options to perform many registry maintenance tasks, such as scan and remove unwanted information from the registry, defrag the registry to make its files contiguous, and backup the registry.
Regular registry maintenance, not only helps you maintain your PC in a good working condition, but also enables you to repair and prevent several system errors, such as DLL errors, driver errors, and ActiveX errors.
Use a Disk Cleanup Tool
Over time, the hard disk of your PC gets filled up with several unwanted files. Therefore, your next step to improve the performance of your PC is to free up some disk space. You can do this with the help of the Disk Cleanup tool. You can open this tool from Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
Disk Cleanup is a one stop tool to compress old files, delete unwanted Internet Explorer files, empty the Recycle Bin and get rid of unwanted program setup files. You can also use this tool to free up disk space by uninstalling unwanted applications and Windows components, and also delete old System Restore snapshots.
Use a Disk Defragmenter Tool
After you have freed up disk space, you must defrag your PC. Defragging helps in making files and folders on your computer contiguous by collecting bits and pieces of a single file stored all over the hard disk, and then putting them together in adjacent data blocks on the disk. Defragging reduces a lot of load from your hard disk, makes data access a lot faster and consequently speeds up your computer.
Use Antivirus and Antispyware Tools
Any system speed up process is not complete unless you are sure that the system is free from virus and spyware infections. Viruses add several malicious files and entries in the registry and infect your applications with malicious codes to alter their normal function and generate errors. Spyware programs not only slow down your PC, but also steal your confidential data and trade it with external sources for malicious purposes.
Therefore, you need to regularly scan your PC with reliable antivirus and antispyware tools. Keep these tools updated with the latest definitions to ensure that your PC is protected against the latest malware. You must also turn on the real time protection feature included in these tools to prevent malware infiltration in the first place.

My Interesting Files Issue
My other site, My Interesting Files is having problems after transferring from Blogger custom domain to Wordpress selfhosted. All the post already imported to Wordpress, and in Blogger account already set up using FTP publishing, but still the individual post of My Interesting Files was viewed using old Blogger layout.
If you go to the homepage, it will be viewed using new Wordpress theme. But if you click the individual posts that I had imported from Blogger, it will be viewed using old Blogger layout. Not only that. All the link in the Blogger layout, point to the address that does not even exist anymore.
So to prevent this, I had changed the permalink without “.html”. So when the reader clicked the individual post, they will see the post using the new Wordpress theme. I don’t know yet if this going to be permanently or only temporary. Will post again in the future for sure. See the different :
old permalink : /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%.html. eg : http://www.myinterestingfiles.com/2008/03/balance-mobile-concept.html
new permalink : /%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%. eg : http://www.myinterestingfiles.com/2008/03/balance-mobile-concept
Does anyone know how to fix this? Even the transfer department from my hosting company who did the transfer and ended up with this problem can not help me to solve this. If any of you ever faced the same problem, please share your experience by leave a comment here or contact me. I really need help.
Update :
To avoid having same content with two different URL, I’ve decided to switch back to my old permalink structure which is using “.html” in the end of the address. If you want to see the different, just go to the homepage and click one old post. You can see the different from here.Update :
The problem is fixed already. Click here for the detail.

New EntreCard Banner
We all know, EntreCard was the hottest issue around this blogsphere recently. So I think it's better to have a nice and unique banner for my EntreCard and expect it would give me more advertiser and more click to my site. That's why I need help for designing EntreCard for my sites, cause I don't have background for design. So far I did them myself and the result was not really satisfied me.
I decided to hire someone to design it for me. I looked around EntreCard Shop and found several offers in there. After checking out their collections, I decided to choose Tyler Mulligan from Do Know Evil to design mine. It cost 400ec, the price is quite reasonable and his designs are nice as well.

It took couple of days for him to finish it. And today I received my new EntreCard banner. Honestly it's not close with what I expected, but definitely much better than the previous one. But who knows this design will bring me to the top? Nobody know that for sure. :)
So what do you think about my new EntreCard?

That's why I haven't do the posting these past days for My Interesting Files which usually it was updated daily.

Agloco is Dead

I received email from Agloco stating that due to their revenue is not sufficient for the distribution neither enough to support operating costs, therefor they are unable to continue the operations. They are even offering any member who would like to continue the operation of AGLOCO.
I'm a member of AGLOCO. But from the first place, I didn't put that much efforts to recruit members. So this doesn't effect much on me. Does anyone actually been paid by Agloco, especially those who have lots of members as their downlines? I only have 7 members as my downline. So, even this is not happening, I didn't expect to be paid anytime soon.

Difference Between http & https

The main difference between http:// and https:// is all about keeping you secure.
HTTP stands for "Hyper Text Transport Protocol", which is just a fancy way of saying it is a protocol (language) for information to be passed back and forth between web servers and clients.
The S for HTTPS stands for "Secure".
If you visit a website or webpage, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with the following: http://.
This means that the website is talking to your browser using the regular 'unsecure' language. In other words, it is possible for someone to "eavesdrop" on your computer's conversation with the website. If you fill out a form on the website, someone might see the information you send to that site. This is why you never ever ever enter your credit card number in an http website!
But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.
If a website ever asks you to enter your credit card information, you should automatically look to see if the web address begins with https://. If it doesn't, DO NOT enter sensitive information like a credit card number!

Remove NoFollow on Comments

After reading Sueblimely and Randa's posts, I decided to turn off the 'nofollow' in my comments. It is an attribute that can be added to websites that tells search engines not to 'follow' links to external sites so that they do not gain any advantages in the ranking process, for example in blog comments.
This was originally designed to help stop comment spam, but it doesn’t work. What it does is remove some of the incentive for your readers contribute to your site by commenting on your posts. 'Nofollow' is good for the search engines but not for bloggers who are trying to increase their readership, develop their network and are already taking measures to stop spam.
Turn off 'nofollow'. Show your commenters that you appreciate them. Depending on the blog platform you’re on, you can install a plugin (for WordPress), or disable it (for Moveable Type user), or modify your template (for Blogger tips).
Allow comment moderation in your blog settings so that all comments have to be approved before you publish them and use spam filtering methods.
But.. Please only take off 'nofollow' if you are confident about implementing the hacks and being able to use counter-spam tools correctly.

The Hot Dog List

Rob from The Hot Dog Truck had included my site in his viral list called The Hot Dog List. Thank's Rob!
It started with Mack Collier of The Viral Garden, who came up with the idea of giving a link boost to smaller bloggers: the ‘Z List’. As you may know, a blog’s success in terms of visibility really depends on links: more links = higher Technorati & Google Pagerank results = more people finding you. So let's join the game by promoting the list. It works!
**Instructions**
The premise is simple: Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favorite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own Hot Dog List posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers — it’s got to be good!
Key Points
1. Create a new post on your blog.
2. Copy and Paste the entire list of blog links below
3. Add any blogs that you want to include near the top of the list. (Optional)
4. Include the blog where you first got the list from, on the list in your post.
5. Make sure that all links are copied intact (use the source, Luke).
6. Publish the Post.

Feed Link Chain
I was wondering around, visiting my communities websites, and I was hooked in Sapphire Knight's site. His latest post is about Feed Link Chain.
Feed Link Chain is a blog Link game that is gaining in popularity and it is going to help you increase your Feed Readers.
RSS subscriber based is one of the key factors to measure the success of a blog. That is how popular the blog is and what is the “reach”. For example, ReviewMe.com used this to evaluate the value of a blog when determining how much the blog should get if it review a product or service by the advertisers.
Here's the rules :
- (1) Add your name and the feed link to the chain along with the names and feeds of three blogs that you would like to include.
- (2) Simply publish the new list to your blog and allow your readers to participate in the game by continuing the chain.
- (3) Link back to me in your post and make a comment here with the three sites you’ve added; I’ll add them to the list on my site so that others, when copying the list from my site will be propagating your three as well!

Increase your Alexa Ranking with Alexa Redirects Train
There's a way to do this. I found this in Zath. It's similar with the recent Technorati Favorite Exchanges. We use redirects from the Alexa website when directing people to your site with links, for example :
http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?http://mustreadfiles.blogspot.com instead of just
http://mustreadfiles.blogspot.com
Here's what you need to do to take part in this one :
~ Start Copying Here ~
Alexa Redirect Train by Carl Ocab.
Rules:
- Put anything you like above this list - chit chat, talkies, introduce what this is. Something like that ;-)
- Start copying on the "~Start Copying Here~" and copy all the things listed without removing the links (of course, the train would be no use without those links)
- Move all the sites labeled "Newcomers" to the list labeled "Oldies"
- Add 5 sites that you want to include in the train and make their link like this: http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?www.example.com then invite them to join the train.
- Visit all the listed sites! (That's not much work! Remember, if you plant good seeds they will also grow good) and look at your high Alexa ranking next week!
